A leading packaging manufacturer is seeking a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join its growing engineering team. This is an excellent opportunity to work within a fast-paced manufacturing environment supporting modern extrusion, printing and converting machinery.

This role has a strong mechanical emphasis, and would suit an engineer with experience maintaining production machinery within manufacturing, packaging, plastics, film extrusion or similar industrial environments.

The successful candidate will be responsible for planned preventative maintenance, reactive breakdown support and continuous improvement projects, ensuring machinery downtime is minimised and production performance is maximised.

Key Responsibilities:

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) across manufacturing equipment
• Respond quickly and effectively to machinery breakdowns and reactive maintenance issues
• Diagnose and repair mechanical faults efficiently to minimise downtime
• Support continuous improvement and engineering projects across site
• Ensure all maintenance activities are completed in line with HSE and company standards
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and engineering documentation
• Work closely with production and operations teams to support manufacturing output
• Assist with maintaining engineering stores, spare parts and workshop organisation

Experience Required:

• Strong mechanical maintenance background within manufacturing or production environments
• Experience working on industrial machinery, conveyors, pumps, motors, gearboxes, bearings and pneumatics
• Previous experience within packaging, plastics, extrusion, printing or converting environments would be advantageous
• Apprentice trained or mechanically qualified to NVQ/City & Guilds level or equivalent
• Strong fault-finding and problem-solving abilities
• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and under pressure

Working Hours:

The role will initially operate on a Monday–Friday basis, working 50 hours per week. Over time, this will evolve into a 7-day rota system to provide weekend engineering support. There will also be a shared on-call rota with other engineers to respond to out-of-hours breakdowns when required which will be paid.

In return, the company offers a stable long-term opportunity within a growing manufacturing business, alongside opportunities for further development and progression.
